Exercise 11 RAW.

For this exercise.I am comparing Raw to J pag. I shoot raw all the time , unless many photographs of an event are required. And the end result does not require allot of post processing.

Required : Set the camera to Raw And J peg.

Take a picture of each: 1 day light , 2 Artificial lighting and 3 high dynamic range.
Open them in the program i use, ; That is aperture 3 .

This is when problems started. At fist . Only Raw photos would dhow. So I looked into the camera setting, All was set right as above. Where are the j pegs ?

I then went into the card. There sat in the file are both raw and J peg.
I imported them again. , Still no showing of both side by side.

I then plaid with the settings. To find they started showing as J peg and no Raw.
I had to convert raw as master file. But still no J peg again. So to the Mac forums I went.
I discovered that when the camera produces both J peg and raw.  Aperture 3 only shows the raw image. Although both have been down loaded.
When producing version from master . there is not much difference.

However , not going into this matter any further.  I opened them from the card file side by side.
Just for the exercise. Raw always looks soft. and lacks colour . Allot more detail is packed together. Looking at the J peg . The image holds colour and a sharper image. with contrast. A little darker too. So the camera has done most of the processing work. i managed to drag the files in Ap3 to view them.

With extreme conditions as High dynamic ranges or other then day light.
