Exercises 18 Colours into tones 2

Colours into tones -2

This is the garden shot , as most do not much to make an interesting image.

The default image taken from the black and white setting in aperture 3

Here I have taken the green leaves and lighten them by fist using the yellow then green and then red. the Hue then saturation, Luminance and lastly, slight range.

Taking this one step further, I used the Black and white sliders, first by fist adjusting the high and low clip, with he channel adjustments, Red, green and Blue . Then going back and using the above Hue settings etc.

I found the the Red, Green, and Blue, For the Black and white, made a vast change on the highlight and lowlight clipping. Only a slight variance took the photograph into burning out highlights or blackening the shadow areas.

Once I had obtained a balance between the two. The other settings
more so green and yellow, pulled the leaves into a much lighter tone or eliminating what would have been dark green. Giving this final result.

Exercises 16 Strength of interpretation.

taking away the colour using the tone clipping to its extreme , giving each photo from the average exposure . Colour and black and white. A low and high key.

the high key does not work so well in colour , as does it with black and white.
Although colour contrast is stronger and richer. The black and white gives a much more Artistic feel. The low light and lost shadow are not so noticeable.

Exercises 15 Black and white,

People are very interesting in black and white . This picture taken at the night market of this person hastily securing the rain cover. The stress and struggle is more emphasised when the picture loses the distraction of colour , making the expression more prominent.

Exercise 13 managing colour

In this exercise, we are looking at colour.

Street light.

1: Very orange sodium light:

The picture here of the closed shop, renders at first, a pale blue tint from the morning light. with a strong  orange light , from the sodium lamp. With simple white balance taken from the tar mack. And some adjustment on exposure , with black point and hue. Much of the tint has beed taken out . This was a quite difficult picture to play with. using a few more tools.

2:

This was quite easy using the same tools, watching the high light and low tone viewer. High in red, low in blue . Fine adjustment brought back the colour that was lost with the blue tint. Although losing that early morning look. Warms the picture, showing more fall off from the artificial lights.
